History of the Club

The Caloosa Dive Club first came to life in 1970, when a handful of local friends who shared a love for diving and spearfishing decided to make it something bigger. Back then, many members had their own boats, and weekends often meant rafting them together for a day of adventure beneath the waves. The club was small, the meetings were cozy, and the sense of community was strong — the perfect beginning for what has grown into today’s Caloosa Dive Club family.

2026 Officer Elections

The tides are changing at the Caloosa Dive Club, and we’ve officially elected our new crew of officers for 2026! Before we dive into the future, we want to take a moment to give a big, heartfelt thank you to our outgoing officers.

Terry Wells (President)

Sandy Canning (Vice President)

Carmela Donegan (Treasurer)

Jerry Ritz (Secretary)

You’ve each given your time, energy, and passion to keep our club running strong. From planning dives and keeping us organized to balancing the books and making sure no detail was overlooked, you’ve been the backbone of the Caloosa Dive Club. We’re so grateful for all you’ve done, and we’ll carry forward the momentum you built.

And now, please join us in congratulating and welcoming your 2026 Caloosa Dive Club Officers:

  • President: Donna Tribeck – Ready to lead the way into another year of adventure and camaraderie!

  • Vice President: Shelli Johnson – Bringing fresh ideas and big energy to keep our dives and events exciting.

  • Treasurer: Fran Wargolet – Keeping our treasure chest balanced and our club financially shipshape.

  • Secretary: Janet Hirst – Making sure every note, plan, and memory is recorded with care.

We’re excited to see what this new team will accomplish together. With their leadership and the support of all our amazing members, 2026 is set to be another unforgettable year under the sea and above the surface.

Let’s raise a (dive) flag of thanks to our outgoing officers and a wave of excitement for our new team. Here’s to great dives, good friends, and another year of fun with the Caloosa Dive Club!

The Club Today

These days, the Caloosa Dive Club is home to more than 100 members, ranging in age from 8 to 80. We’ve got everything from brand-new divers just getting their fins wet to seasoned pros with thousands of logged dives. And it’s not just about diving — many of our non-diving members stick around for the friendships, fun, and sense of community that the club brings.

Our calendar is packed year-round with adventures: local dives in Florida’s warm waters, trips to nearby reefs and springs, and even group getaways to incredible destinations like the Cayman Islands, Mexico, and Bonaire. On top of that, we mix in plenty of fun above the surface — aquarium visits, canoe trips, dinners, and fascinating guest speakers.

One of our favorite traditions is the Annual Awards Banquet each October. It’s a night to celebrate, share stories, and honor our members’ talents in underwater photography, spearfishing, and more — all with plenty of laughter and camaraderie.
